New Tokyo Pop Website Pushed Back to Next Week

Comments Off

Well despite their best efforts, Tokyo Pop was unsuccessful in launching their new and improved website this week. The site, which was scheduled to be unveiled Wednesday night, made a brief appearance on Thursday. However, only a few primary sections were up and running and the place holder made a reappearance. From what this blogger saw, the site does show a lot of improvement from the current layout, including a better way to access the Tokyo Pop merchandise. While a new release date is planned for sometime next week, the company hasn’t placed a concrete date just yet. We hope to hear some news in the days to come.

Parents are Sold a Five Hundred Dollar Phonebook Instead of a New Playstation 3

Comments Off

DOH! I saw this on the morning news, and I was hoping to post it when I got back, but it looks like Kotaku beat me to it by a few hours. Anyways, a teenage boy got a surprise Christmas morning when he opened up his present. It was supposed to be a brand new Play Station 3 ($499.99), and two games. As it turned out, the console was replaced with a local phone book. The thirteen-year old isn’t really broken up about it, in fact when he saw what happened he said that he was “more laughing than disappointed”. His parents however, aren’t quite as chipper, seeing as their local EB Games had sold them a five hundred dollar phone book. The highlight of the reel had to be at the end when they showed his two younger sisters enjoying their present, a karaoke machine. When the story hit the news Christmas evening, the mother was planning on going back to the store on the 26th. Fox news caught up on them, and a spokesperson for the store involved had said that issue has been resolved. See the source below for the full video.

Funimation Channel 18.3 Recieves News Coverage by Anime News Network

Comments Off

It looks like Anime News Network beat me to the punch. Oh well. On the 15th of June, myself and others in the LA area found out that the Funimation Channel would no longer be aired on channel 18.3, a channel only available through a digital receptor. While Funimation has yet to release any official statement to the press, a reader of Anime News Network has been told by Funimation that it will still be available to certain parts of Los Angeles through Verizon FiOS TV. Um okay… ANN also discovered that Los Angeles isn’t the first to lose the channel, as KHCV had also stopped airing it up in Seattle Washington.

Coming Back to Earth After Paris: The Opinion of an In-Betweener

Comments Off

One again sorry about stepping out of Geekville, and into the mainstream, but this just had to be said.

And so the day has come. Like waiting for that four to six week delivery to arrive, Paris Hilton’s release date came surprisingly fast. Daddy’s having a big welcome home bash, the paparazzi are trying to get that shot of her first bite of freedom, without getting their cars towed, and everyone is placing bets on how long it will the take for the temptation of a screwdriver to make her forget how much she hates the color orange.

I’m really not going to say much about her place in life. Lord knows that even with my straight and narrow path, I am far from being the picture of success. The truth is, I’m writing this to find closure to this endless scandal, which ironically, I am contributing to. I am really hoping after this, she will stay off my tube for a while. I know the only way this will happen is by one, she stays out of trouble and two, the paparazzi get so bored of her that they start looking for other news like, Iraq, or Afghanistan, or dare I say the Arctic Circle. Heck, while I’m at it I might as well wish for world peace, and a PS 3 for less than $300. Too much? Yeah, getting back to the topic.

Now in the last decade, statistics in California showed that one out of every three DWI reported are a repeat offense, and if Pairs was released back then, there would’ve been a 44% chance of a repeat DWI offense within seven years or so. Not that I don’t have faith in the girl, but I am really hoping that she doesn’t fall into those statistics; if not for my sanity, then at the very least for the well being of a fellow human being. Sadly, I have very no power to change things beyond my own self. Therefore, from this point on, all I will do is wish her well and not give her a second thought.

Now ending on a humorous note, I saw this article on TMZ.com about her cravings for Taco Bell. Paris, please. I love Taco Bell as much as any other Southern Californian. But the truth is, even they can’t compete with this place!

Welcome to Omoshiroi Blog

Comments Off

Hello everyone, and welcome to OmoshiroiBlog.net! This site is primarily focused in three categories: The first is covering news from the J-Pop industry (Anime, Manga, Video Games). Whether it’s a new series out in Japan, or an event happening in the U.S. we aim to post it. The second features news and humor from our American geek culture; from web comics to swag, we will cover it. The third is a collection of skits and comic, made by our own staff, where we spoof some of the people and events of our culture. As you can see the site isn’t too flexible, and there aren’t too many features. I hope to take care of that in the months to come. I hope you stick around, as this site continues to grow.

Funimation Channel 18.3 (Los Angeles) Off the Air

Comments Off

Anime fans in the Los Angeles area got a big surprise when they turned on their TVs this morning and found that the Funimation Channel had gone off the air. In its place, a statement has been made by KSCI the company which aired the anime channel for free. It reads, “Funimation Channel is no longer available on KSCI DT 18.3. Funimation Channel has not renewed their contract for broadcast on 18.3 For all further questions please feel free to visit www.funimationchannel.com. Thank you”. As of this point, there are no postings made by Funimation, and it has been rather low brow in their forums as well. We hope to keep you posted if any new changes come about…
