Announcing Max Toy Company New to STRANGEco Distribution

Comments Off

It was announced earlier last week that STRANGEco will be the exclusive wholesaler for Max Toy Company. Already known for distributing products for companies like Tokidoki, STRANGEco’s catalog includes an array of toys and collectibles from both Asian and Western counterculture.

“StrangeCo is the leader in distributing Art Toys,” said Mark Nagata, MTC founder “and really curate their offerings with care while expanding the brands identity. I think Japanese inspired toys is a growing aspect of the Art Toy market and I’d like to expand Max Toy Company products to these collectors. I’m looking forward to have Max Toy Company as a part of their select group of offerings.”

In the same sense, Max Toy Company’s products are based on Mark Nagata’s passion for retro Japanese figures from the golden age of Japanese kaiju. Their attention to detail can be seen in the figurines. There are currently three different characters available through STRANGEco including there variations of a wicked cool mutant potato called Eyezon, and Kikaida that pays tribute to the classic 70′s Japanese superhero.

Thorax Entertainment Re-released the AMV "Your Horoscope for Today"

Your Horoscope Revised

As one of the three goals of this blog is to post various gems found across the Internet, this next video came as a happy surprise. When DivX was in its early stages, fan subs were becoming more of a household word, including anime fans here in the US. One of the results from this fledgling technology was that Anime Music Videos were able to be produced much easier. Of course issues like resolution or subtitles were considered a slight nuisance, but tolerable nonetheless. The process of making an AMV has become a lot more sophisticated, and our amount of resources – though often frowned upon – has become much more abundant. Now certain issues that were we let slide seven to ten years ago would now be considered almost taboo.

About seven years ago, Thorax Entertainment created an AMV based of the TV series “Love Hina” and using the song “Your Horoscope for the Day” by Weird Al Yankovic. It was an entertaining piece, and the group did a great job associating the scenes with music. Of course by now the video is showing its age, and with newer and more available resources, I was hoping against hope that a good remake of the AMV would magically appear. Well it looks like wishes do come as back in May Thorax Entertainment posted a remake of the video on their web site Antabaka.net…

Iron Man Trailer Posted on Apple

Comments Off

The Iron Man movie trailer was posted on Apple.com a few days ago. This was the trailer that was exclusive to Comic Con attendees back in July. It gives you a fairly good idea as to the plot. There is a play by play of the trailer below (conveniently in white font), but to go to the trailer just clock Iron Man’s picture above. All I will say is, the guitar riff played during the suit’s debut was an exceptional choice.

To Peace.

Robert Downey Jr plays a sly and witty Tony Stark that is in the Middle East conducting business with the US military. At one point he and the troops are ambushed, and Tony Stark is forced to crate some kind of missile for a group of terrorist. However instead of building the missile, we see him creating some kind of iron mask. Then behind closed doors, we hear the pounding of his fist. The terrorist with their guns ready begin to panic and as the guitar riff from Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” is being played, Tony Stark comes out in the suit and obliterates the terror cell. The second montage shows his miraculous return back home, his lavish lifestyle, his improvments on the suit, and a possible baddie. This is followed by Tony Stark in the red and yellow suit flying in the sky with two stealth fighters on his tail.
