Kotobukiya sent out a press release announcing a series of character models that are based on the film, and the first is none of than the Dark Knight himself. Based on the pics the level of craftsmanship is hard to beat. Standing almost 14″ tall, he stands on top of the Bat-Signal throwing his cape to one side. The press release went on to mention that Batman’s pose is directly based on a scene from the upcoming movie. Quoting from the release:
“Fine details of the new mesh-and-armor Bat-Suit have been faithfully recreated by sculptor BusujimaX, and the figure even features an excellent likeness of actor Christian Bale.”
Tomoi Iwasaki of Kotobukiya’s Planning Division is also quoted saying:
“There will be a hidden theme connecting our Dark Knight Bat-Suit ARTFX Statue and our future release of a totally different Original Bat-Suit ARTFX Statue. Please see the movie, and then display the two pieces side-by-side to reveal the concept!”
The full line of THE DARK KNIGHT series will be available outside of Japan only from DC Direct, and they hope to have news on the characters in the near future. Batman “Dark Knight Bat-Suit” will be available this October.
