Getting to new business before old business, about a week ago Shinji from Crunchy Roll gave the anime community quite the surprise when announced that ADV Films will be in cooperation with his web site to post the yesteryear anime series “Welcome to NHK”. The current plan is to release two episodes once every Thursday (24/2 = 12 weeks). Not that big of surprise, there is a modest amount of promotion towards the DVDs. There is a catch or two. First the series is only viewable if you’re in the US, UK, or Canada. And second, the series is only available in English. While I’ve always enjoyed watching Chris Patton and Greg Ayres team up, there maybe some fans out there that absolutely need to hear Yutaka Koizumim and Daisuke Sakaguchi in order watch it.
To commemorate the series Crunchy Roll is also holding a contest. Participants are asked to send a picture of their room. The room that is deemed most otaku will win “Welcome to NHK” volumes 1-4. The contest is scheduled to end on June 6th at 7:00:00 GMT (or 00:00:00 Pacific Standard Time).
