Funimation to Release Slayers Revolution on DVD Sometime in 2010

Funimation has announced that they have acquired multiple rights to the Slayers Revolution.  This is the fourth season in the series.

Like the previous seasons, Takashi Watanabe directed this season of Slayers.  The voice talent also includes Yasunori Matsumoto and Megumi Hayashibara.  For those who are eager to get the series on DVD, you will have to wait until sometime in the year 2010.  Fans who are eager to get the series on Blue-ray… you might have to wait a little while longer.  For more information go to funimation.com/slayersrevolution.

Funimation Acquires Oh! Edo Rocket

Funimation announced today that it has acquired multiple media distribution rights for the Studio Madhouse series Oh! Edo Rocket.  The series was adapted by for a theater troupe by Kazuki Kahashima and directed by Seiji Mizushima.

Last Exile Acquired by Funimation

Funimation annouced today that it has acquired the rights to the anime series Last Exile.  The series was directed by Kouichi Chigira, and character designs by Range Murata.

Crunchyroll to Premiere Druaga – Sword of Uruk on Jan. 8

Crunchyroll announced today that it will be premiering The Tower of Druaga – The Sword of Uruk on January 8th.  This is the sequel to the Gonzo’s hit series The Tower of Duraga – The Aegis of Uruk, which aired earlier this year.

This is inconjunction with Crunchyroll’s new Anime Membership that they plan to begin on the same day.  Members who pay the fee will recieve several benefits including watching watching several titles on Hi-Definition (720p), or early acess to episodes.

Kotobukiya Releases Details for their May and June Figures

From the anime series To Aru Majutsu No Index, Kuroko Shirai stands almost 8 inches tall, and is in scale with her other cast members. Donning her school uniform, she holds her book bag in one hand and flechettes in the other. As she dashes through the battle field, her skirt uplifts to expose her thigh-holsters and where the keeps her weapons. Sculpted by Shoukaku Kitaike, her base is designed to match her cast member Kaori Kanzaki. With an SRP of $54.99, look for her in May.

If this were the anime, her next move would be to race towards Hayase and slap him across the face. Emi from Line Barrels of Iron is seen here trying to keep her modesty after her straps have come loose. Sculpted by Sho Koima, she is 1/8th scale like her cast members in the Ani*Statues series. With an SRP of $49.99 she is coming out in May.

Sculpted by Hide, Yuki from To Heart 2 stands at 7 4/5 inches tall. She is seen here wearing skimpy white bikini and sandals. Her outfit also includes small details such as her yellow ribbon and red tropical flower in her hair, plus the small blue beads on her top. She also comes with what looks to be a soft white towel that can be removed. With an SRP of $44.99, she will at our shores in May.

Zange from Kannagi is seen here wearing a black bunny suit with matching pumps and on all fours. The details in her outfit include the black bunny ears, white cuffs and the crucifix in her hair. At 1/7th scale her cushion base is made of soft, silky fabric. With an SRP of $59.99, look for her in May.

With her previous cast members dressed like different animals, Tugumi is seen here in a dog outfit. Wearing a two piece suit, the bashful girl completes her outfit with a pair of dog ears, paws and collar. To company is also proud to mention that her pink paws are also soft to the touch. Sculpted by Masato Abe, she is matched to scale with the previous Kannagi girls (1/7th scale). With an SRP of $54.99 you can find her one month later in June.

Ai Iijima Found Dead at the Age of 36

Tokyo Graph reported today that Ai Iijima was found dead in her apartment in Tokyo today.  She was 36.

She began her career as an AV actress in 1992 and left one year later.  She began to grow popularity as a variety show host.  Her autobiography Platonic Sex was published in 2000 and became a best seller, eventually being turned into a TV drama.

According to the police report her body was found around 3:15 p.m. by an acquaintance after she stopped responding to communications for several days.  It is unknown at this time what she died of or for how long.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
