Once upon a time in the 80′s, Nintendo would have several of their titles in both the arcade and the NES. The Arcade version were usually harder than the home version, and sometimes included features not in the console. Apparently in the arcade version of Duck Hunt (Vs. Duck Hunt) there was a bonus round where you could actually shoot that annoying dog.
The folks behind Luna Online announced yesterday that the game will be available for public beta on December 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM (+8 GMT). For my fellow gamers who are living state side, that translates as tonight 10/7 p.m. Eastern/Pacific.
Aside from killing monsters, some of the game’s main features include building relationships, owning land, plus new quests, and items every month.
A few weeks ago a friend showed me this skit on a famous website where people played an FPS and talked about the economy. As I sat there watching the whole thing I swear I could hear my brain screaming out loud from fear of exploding. While I understand that everyone (myself included) is trying their best to stand out amongst the crowd, I began to wonder if this was really the best the web could offer in reporting about the industry. Fortunately I got my answer today in the form of no. I got that answer from the (pasty) bad boy of video game reviews Yahtzee in a new show he’s trying to promote called Game Damage.
For all the bells and whistles that people are trying to pull, the concept is very simple. Three guys sit down in front of a camera and have a creative and constructive discussion about the industry. They throw in a witty skit from time to time to break things up. They’re also not afraid to not hold back any punches, and give their honest opinions about a subject.
Unlike other shows where people just jabber away while playing games, I actually felt like my brain was being fed. The show has a very clean look to it, and it doesn’t look like a bunch of guys just threw it together. For now the trio is looking for sponsorship and hopes of being picked up by network. You can check out their pilot video at the top, or for more information go to gamedamage.net.
Edge reported this morning that EA will be cutting 1,000 jobs effective March 31, 2009. The layoff will cut ten percent of the company’s global workforce and save them $120 million dollars a year.
The original plan was to cut only six percent of their work force. EA also plans to close or consolidate “at least” nine studios and publishing locations.
Oh LittleKuriboh, look what have you started. These guys have been around for a year, but they already have over thirty episodes out. Aside from being start out hilarious, I really have to admire how clean the series is compared to other abridged series out there. Although the leader of the group, Megami33, has everything posted on YouTube, they have their own website where its a bit more organized. They also have a small store on Cafe Press where you can purchase some of their doujin inspired merchandise. While my personal favorite is Episode 5, I’ve posted the first episode down below. To see the whole series go to SailorMoonAbridged.com.

Mr. Fukuhara from Viz said Mr. Fukuhara remarked, “We look forward to joining forces with Warner Home Video and are confident that in working with their strength in sales and distribution, we will continue to grow the anime category even more effectively than we have over the last several years. We’re very encouraged by Warner Home Video’s enthusiasm for this category and our properties and look forward to our titles reaching an even wider audience as a result of this relationship.”
