The Comic Con / San Diego Relationship Still Strong

Comments Off
During October, it was announced that Comic Con renewed their contract with the San Diego Convention Center up to 2015 with the acknowledgement that the hosted site will be expanding. Honestly though, could you imagine it anywhere else? Comic Con International and San Diego have been joined to the hip since the beginning which dates back to more than 40 years. It has grown from being a small gathering of Marvel and DC fans to an all-out show featuring Hollywood stars, comic industry legends, the E3 bandwagon and a weekend party scene around the area that can rival Mardi Gras. Well maybe not rival, but it’s definitely a fun scene. Beyond the gathering of 100,000 plus and being THE con of comic conventions, Comic Con has become the main event of pop culture and they take pride in that.
Maybe Vegas, would bring in more glitz or New York would draw even larger crowds, but it can never take away the genuine feeling of seeing people gather from all over the world to fill up downtown San Diego for four days. Comic Con has been San Diego’s economic bread and butter for many years, so I’m not surprised that the convention committee made haste to their commitment to expand the area in order to keep the cash cow. Obviously, it was the right thing to do. Hopefully, Comic Con is forever here to stay in San Diego and the next round of contract renewal goes more smoothly.

Using video games as a social outlet? BLASPHEMOUS!

xBLACKCAT215x posted this video today about his life story. Namely about his downfall in football and his road to recovery thanks to video games.

He starts off by talking about his life in football, and how he began to take a “legal” steroid to get stronger despite his strong talents. He continues about going through what sounds like withdrawal – partially due to a genetic trait that laid dormant until then. Eventually he loses his identity as a football player, along with his social circles. Then at the end of the story he talks about how using YouTube and video games as a social outlet to reach out to people, including people who supported him.
